Downtown Daybreak FAQ

OVERVIEW

It’s a mix of office, food, entertainment, retail and residences coming to life along the Mountain View Corridor and the TRAX Red Line in the middle of Daybreak. Like the rest of Daybreak, the new downtown is part of a plan that originated over 20 years ago with the Wasatch Front Regional Council and Envision Utah. Now it’s shifting into a new gear thanks to a collaboration between Larry H. Miller Real Estate and the City of South Jordan, Utah.

With its location and its mix of sports and entertainment, retail and office, homes and unique outdoor spaces, Downtown Daybreak will create a vibrant, walkable community. A place where businesses benefit from all the people who live nearby, including the thousands who live close enough to walk or bike to the good stuff that’s happening here. Good news: work has already begun! We are well underway preparing the ground and the underlying infrastructure for the new ballpark, which will be the heart of a soon-to-be sports and entertainment district.

Downtown Daybreak is a large-scale, multi-year project. Major parts of DTDB are planned to be complete as early as 2025. The overall approach to phasing will help create the feel of a finished place at each step of progress.

Larry H. Miller Real Estate is the developer behind the award-winning master planned community, Daybreak, and its transformative new urban center, Downtown Daybreak — both located in South Jordan, Utah.

SALT LAKE BEES BALLPARK

The ballpark is part of Downtown Daybreak’s sports and entertainment plaza — America First Square — being built on a site between Mountain View Corridor and Grandville Avenue to the west and east, and Lake Avenue and Big Sur Drive to the south and north. The plaza is named for its exclusive naming rights partner, America First Credit Union, and will be a year-round family fun zone, a place for open-air concerts, summer games, ice skating and holiday lights. All just steps from great shopping and dining.

The ballpark is expected to be completed in Spring 2025.

Although the new ballpark is in South Jordan, Utah, the team will still proudly carry the name, the Salt Lake Bees.

No, the Bees will remain the Triple-A affiliate of the Angels.

The Larry H. Miller Company is the proud owner of the Salt Lake Bees and will privately fund construction of the new ballpark.

We will continue to announce updates, including tenant announcements, as we make progress. To stay up to date on the latest, be sure to follow Downtown Daybreak on social media.

TRAFFIC & TRANSIT

Daybreak is a part of a Master Development Agreement with the City — a plan that anticipated both residential and commercial growth. The City is working closely with LHM Real Estate and both the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) and the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) to not only address traffic but to allow for multiple modes of transportation, including a third TRAX light rail stop in Daybreak.

Transit to the new ballpark will look a lot like how transit is managed for major events in Salt Lake City. South Jordan City and LHM Real Estate are coordinating closely with UTA to add another TRAX station to support the ballpark. Also, the City is sharing expected ridership numbers with UTA so the transit authority can plan for the expected demand.
